Slayer es una banda de thrash metal estadounidense fundada en 1981 por los guitarristas Jeff Hanneman y Kerry King en Huntington Park,California. Para completar su formación, King y Hanneman reclutaron al bajista y vocalista de origen chileno Tom Araya y al baterista de origen cubano Dave Lombardo. Éste último ha estado dentro y fuera de la banda durante varios años. Slayer alcanzó la fama gracias a la edición de Reign in Blood, calificado como «el álbum más heavy de todos los tiempos» según la revista Kerrang!. Gracias a esta fama, el grupo fue incluido durante los años ochenta dentro de Los Cuatro grandes del thrash metal junto con Metallica, Megadeth y Anthrax. Asimismo, la banda ha sido fuertemente criticada por grupos religiosos de ser una banda de "thrash metal satánico", debido a que tanto sus letras como las portadas de sus álbumes tratan temas como el satanismo, la violencia, asesinato, asesinos en serie y guerras, y se le ha acusado de apoyar al nazismo. Esta última acusación fue formulada debido a la afición de Jeff Hanneman de coleccionar material de temática nazi y por letras como la de la canción «Angel of Death», que trata sobre el médico y criminal de guerra Josef Mengele. Los miembros del grupo siempre han negado estas imputaciones, asegurando que simplemente están interesados en el tema.

Finntroll es un grupo finlandés que combina en su música elementos del black metal con el death metal y el folk metal con el estilo de polca finesa conocido como humppa. Aunque las raíces del grupo sean finesas, las letras están en sueco, pues éste "suena mucho más troll" según Katla, el primer cantante de la banda, que tiene este idioma como lengua materna. Finntroll fue formada en 1997 por Teemu “Somnium” Raimoranta , guitarrista de Impaled Nazarene, y por Jan “Katla” Jämsen. Su primera maqueta, Rivfader, fue grabada al cabo de un año, en 1998, y tras su grabación se unieron a la banda el resto de los miembros iniciales: Samu Ruotsalainen (de Barathrum y Rapture), Samuli Ponsimaa, Henri Sorvali (de Moonsorrow) y Sami Uusitalo. La discográfica Spinefarm se interesó en el grupo y firmaron un contrato, tras el que grabaron Midnattens Widunder (que podría traducirse como La Bestia de la Medianoche) en 1999. Para sorpresa de la banda y la disquera este fue todo un éxito alcanzando el Disco de Oro en su natal Finlandia y por ciertas partes de Europa.

Abominable Putridity was formed in 2002 by Alexander and Pavel. After a year had passed, the vocalist, Vladimir, joined the band, and in 2004, Andrey K., the former bassist of Vermicular Decay, joined Abominable Putridity. In 2006, the band recorded their first demo, which was released in the month of May, 2002. Vladimir left the band five months later, and was replaced by Cameron Argon. Abominable Putridity performed for several small gigs and metal festivals in the Moscow region; in one of those gigs, the band met Jim of Lacerated Enemy Records, who offered them their first record contract. During the recording sessions, Argon left the band and was temporarily replaced by Andrey. The first full-length album to be published by Lacerated Enemy Records was called, In The End Of Human Existence(2007). In January 2009, vocalist Matti Way (who is also the current vocalist of Pathology and the former vocalist of Disgorge, Cinerary and Liturgy) joined the band. The band signed with the label Brutal Bands in 2011, recording a 3 tracks demo simply called as Promotional CD 2011. In 2012, Abominable Putridity released their second album, The Anomalies of Artificial Origin.
